Morrison & Foerster Launches Complimentary Tracker For Northern District Of California IP Cases

PTAB Rejects Tribal Immunity Proceedings

We are pleased to announce the launch of the MoFo NDCal IP Resource Center. This complimentary resource is available to the public and provides insights on the judges, trends, and decisions for intellectual property cases for the last five years in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The site is searchable by judge, party name, and case dates, and covers claim constructions, Section 101 motions, summary judgements, and verdicts. It includes an interactive map about each of the divisions, including specific information on the judges. The resource center also provides additional information regarding insights into the Northern District’s approach to intellectual property cases and links to resources, such as local rules and model protective orders.

MoFo has a long and proud track record in N.D. Cal., litigating landmark IP cases through verdict in all three of its divisions. In the past 15 years, the firm’s lawyers have handled more than 220 cases in N.D. Cal., including many seminal IP cases that have shaped the high-tech, life sciences, and consumer products industries.

There have been approximately 1,400 patent cases, 1,150 copyright cases, 90 trade secrets, and 1,050 trademark cases filed in N.D. Cal. in the past five years. The San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose divisions handle all of the intellectual property cases.

The MoFo NDCal IP Resource Center can be accessed at https://www.mofo.com/ndcal/. It is the latest resource that Morrison & Foerster has brought to market, following the launch of the firm’s Benchmarking IP Litigation 2019 study, MoFo Life Sciences blog, and MoFo Tech blog.
