Patent Drafting with James Mullen - GSAS Harvard Biotech Club & MoFo's Patent Course

GSAS Harvard Biotech Club and Morrison & Foerster’s Patent Course Off to a Roaring Start!

Morrison & Foerster LLP partner, founder and head of MoFo’s antibody IP practice James Mullen taught a class in patent drafting to members of the GSAS Harvard Biotech Club (HBC). This was the second of a six-part Patent Law Course offered by Morrison & Foerster and HBC. The class covered the rules of patentability including the written description, enablement requirements and claim drafting. Students were assigned a claim drafting project for homework. MoFo prizes will be awarded to the best claim set.

Instructor Jim Mullen commented: “I’m impressed by 'the sophistication of the student in the class,' who hailed from all over the U.S., Europe and South America.”

This week’s class will be taught by Morrison & Foerster partner Janet Xiao and patent associate Anna Yuan. Dr. Xiao will be discussing patenting of antibodies, CAR T, gene and cell therapies. She will also discuss biosimilars and generics. Life Sciences Data Analytics patent expert Anna Yuan will discuss AI, software and data science patent issues.
